Spanish Design Series

Spanish Design Series

October saw the arrival of a collection of Spanish designers at our SZ HQ. In August we were approached by the Spanish consulate who, having heard of our reputation in the field of design, were keen for us to help them organise an event to promote a collection of Spanish designers. We worked closely with the consular team and as a result were able to pull off a hugely successful event bringing together a wide range of industries all of who were interested in how overseas designers could help their businesses. Via our extensive network of design industry contacts we were able to tailor an invite list pertinent to the Spanish designers. Close to 200 delegates attended a day long event which began with introductory addresses from our very own Oliver Hou, Chairman of the SZFA. Attendees then heard brief introductory presentations from each of the Spanish designers before a lively Q&A. As a Spanish lunch was served and cocktails were sipped a series of pre-arranged meetings then began in break-out rooms allocated specifically for the purpose. Manufacturers, designers, retail store owners and more were then able to speak one on one with any of the designers in which they were interested. A farewell address concluded the day and as delegates made their way to the car park there was just enough time for interviews with our invited collection of media partners. Coverage soon hit the Chinese media, including in depth video interviews with the likes of QQ TV as well as our own, highly regarded, SZ Furniture magazine and szfa.com. As the Spanish designers and consular representatives said their farewells the mood was overwhelmingly positive. They had met a huge range of potential collaborators and were excited at the prospect of future business, they had been given plenty of time to speak with each individually and they had even had time to enjoy a drink and a bowl of paella.
